During the first month of school, our wonderful Librarian Ms de Linares has been running her annual Magic World of Books Poster Competition. This competition is an opportunity for students to connect their love for reading with their love for the arts - to create a piece of art that represents the magic of being swept away on the adventures in a really great book!
Ms de Linares received 28 submissions to the poster competition this year, from students all across the school! They were all beautiful, inventive, and unique! Ms de Linares said she was quite happy the winning poster wasn’t up to her, as she wouldn’t be able to pick one!
After three days of voting, the students named their winning posters!
- 1st Place Prize goes to… Mio Olsson Klarqvist (6A)
- 2nd Place Prize goes to… Soroush Ghorbani (6A)
- 3rd Place Prize goes to… Natalie Lenngren (5C)
The students have all received a trophy for their wonderful art pieces. Congratulations to all students who participated in this competition. Stay tuned for the next one coming up very soon!
We have some very special news to share with you all!
A couple of weeks back, Ms Iljans and Ms Doty attended the Principals Quality Conference together in Stockholm for all Principals and Academic Representatives from Internationella Engelska Skolan. At this conference, they received an award on behalf of IES Falun!
Our school has won an award for the Most Progress in Junior School Academic Achievement across Internationella Engelska Skolan in Sweden! Based on the Nationella Prov scores in Swedish, Math, and English, our school made the biggest improvement from the 2015/2016 Academic School Year to the 2016/2017 Academic School Year.
We are very proud of the students and teachers who worked so hard last year to achieve such a special award!

Students in grade 7 created comic strips about the water cycle. This particular student not only showed an excellent understanding of these concepts but the effort, creativity, storytelling and artistic ability really makes this student's work outstanding!
Well done Nina Strykowska in 7A. Keep up the fantastic work!
