IES Falun Vision

Internationella Engelska Skolan has had a strong ethos since day one: our schools should be a safe and calm learning environment, where teachers can teach and students can learn; children should learn to command both the Swedish and the English language at an early age; and we have high academic expectations and aspirations for all our students.

Here at IES Falun, we also have a vision for our school: to fill our students' (metaphorical) backpacks with knowledge and experiences that prepare them for their road ahead. When our students graduate in Year 9, our aim is that they have learned much more than just what is required of the Swedish curriculum. They will have worked with teachers and students from many different countries, giving them a deeper understanding and appreciation of the world around them. English will be a fully established second language, as we use English both academically and socially around the school. Additionally, practicing their soft skills - such as problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, etc. - will be a focus throughout all lesson plans, assignments, projects, and assessments.

Both teaching staff and administrative staff have focus areas based on how they interact with students. Our belief is that students should feel prepared and ready to take on the world once their years at IES Falun have ended. Whether that means that they are confident at their first summer job, curious in their gymnasium lessons, or passionate as they explore a new city down the road, we hope that IES Falun provided the best learning environment possible!

Here, a few departments have shared what they'd like to make sure is in our students' backpacks.
